We all know someone who plays video games or is a gamer as they put it today. Maybe it’s your boyfriend, maybe it’s you, but whoever it is there’s no doubt that video games have seen a meteoric rise over the past couple of decades… and it all started with Sega and Nintendo.

According to The Huffington Post, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg have been tabbed by Sony to write and direct a film-adaptation of the book “Console Wars: Sega, Nintendo and the Battle That Defined a Generation” written by Blake J. Harris. The book is yet to be released, but Sony Pictures has already acquired the rights for the film. Here’s the opening to the book:

Following the success of “The Accidental Billionaires” and “Moneyball” comes “Console Wars”—a mesmerizing, behind-the-scenes business thriller that chronicles how Sega, a small, scrappy gaming company led by an unlikely visionary and a team of rebels, took on the juggernaut Nintendo and revolutionized the video game industry.

Rogen and Goldberg have already had tremendous success with movies collaborating on projects like “Superbad”, “Pineapple Express”, and “This is the End”. Whether you find the topic of the movie interesting or not you can be sure the film is going to be good with these two guys at the helm. The film is slated to be produced by Scott Rudin, who has plenty of experience with books like these turned into film adaptations. Just look at “Moneyball” and “The Social Network”
