He’s a semi-aquatic, egg-laying mammal of action! He’s a furry little flatfoot who’ll never flinch from the fray! He’s got more than just mad skill. He’s got a beaver tail and a bill…He’s Perry! Perry the Platypus!
Ah, Perry the Platypus. He’s the hero our world needs, even if we don’t deserve him. For those not familiar with Perry, he is a teal monotreme from Disney’s Phineas and Ferb cartoon. He is the pet of the Flynn-Fletcher family, but also has a secret, James Bond like identity as Agent P in the group O.W.C.A. (Organization Without a Cool Acronym). As an animal agent, he defends the Tri-State area from his arch-nemesis (and best frenemy) Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz.
Typically, Agent P can handle Doofenshmirtz on his own, but even the best agent needs help from time to time. That’s where you enter the picture. You can help Perry defeat the semi-nefarious Dr. Doofenshmirtz at Epcot in the Agent P World Showcase Adventure.
Here’s everything you need to know about this wildly entertaining experience:
1. It’s Free!
Playing the Agent P World Showcase Adventure won’t cost you a thing (except the cost of admission to Epcot).
2. You’ll Need a Smartphone
For a long time, you registered to play at a station in the World Showcase and were given a cell phone (or F.O.N.E. for Field Operative Notification Equipment) with a screen for playing video transmissions from O.W.C.A. Today, you simply register with your smartphone at www.agentpwsa.com (note that you must be at Epcot. You can access the page outside of the park, but won’t be able to play).
You start your adventure at the Recruitment Center near Odyssey Bridge or near the International Gateway. Once you begin, messages from O.W.C.A. will be sent to you via text as you progress through the adventure.
3. Where Do You Play?
As the game’s name suggest, everything takes place in the World Showcase. There are six available missions, each restricted to one country within the showcase: China, France, Germany, Japan, Mexico, and the United Kingdom. The missions are different for each country.
4. What Do You Do?
You’ll receive messages from O.W.C.A directing you to specific places within the country pavilion you’ve chosen. The messages are sent via text and include a video in which O.W.C.A.’s Major Monogram and his assistant Carl give you clues to the next stage of your adventure. You’ll also interact with various object found within the pavilion. Be ready for surprises! Window displays might move, images may appear on objects, and you might even see Agent P.
5. How Long Does It Take?
Each mission takes approximately 30-45 minutes. However, your game does reset when you leave the park. You can’t start a game and complete it on your next mission.
The game is a great family activity (though you don’t have to have kids to enjoy it, just a childlike passion for adventure and silliness). As an added bonus, the game can lead you to areas and features of the World Showcase that you may have previously missed. Besides, how often in life do you get the chance to save the world with a platypus?
