Mercedes Moné looks to extend her run in Japan.

According to a new report from F4WOnline.com‘s Dave Meltzer (via Wrestling Observer Radio), Mercedes Moné is working on adding another match to her current agreement with New Japan Pro-Wrestling.

As it stands, Mercedes Moné has one more match on her existing deal, an IWGP Women’s Championship defense against Mayu Iwatani at Stardom All Star Grand Queendom on Sunday. Meltzer noted that it’s unknown if the new deal has been finalized yet, but Moné is at least in talks for another match at a future event.

“They are in negotiations for one more match. Her final match of her current contract is the match this coming Sunday at the Yokohama Arena against Mayu (Iwatani) for the IWGP Women’s title. I do not know if the deal is done,” Meltzer said. “It was not done the last I was told but she is in talks for one more date. I don’t know what that date would be, I don’t know if it would be Dominion or what exactly. That’s where her situation is right now.”

Mercedes Moné attacked Mayu Iwatani at a press conference to promote the match last week. Moné also attacked Iwatani on Saturday’s Stardom show, further building hype for their match.

Both of Mercedes Moné’s matches in 2023 so far have taken place under the New Japan Pro-Wrestling banner. Moné had not wrestled since leaving WWE in May 2022, and she has said she’s willing to work anywhere that “gives the bag.”
