Paul Stanley is an American musician, singer, songwriter, and painter. He is the co-founder, frontman, rhythm guitarist, and co-lead vocalist of rock band Kiss. The band’s original line-up also included Peter Criss, Ace Frehley, and Gene Simmons. He is nicknamed “The Starchild.”
His mother, Eva (Jontof-Hutter), was born in Berlin, and came from a German Jewish family that fled Nazi Germany to Amsterdam, and then to New York (they also had Czech Jewish ancestry). His father’s parents were Polish Jews. Stanley was raised Jewish, although he did not consider his family very observant.
Stanley’s family relocated to the Kew Gardens neighborhood in Queens in 1960. He is married to Erin Sutton. He has a son with his former wife, actress Pamela Bowen, and three children with Erin.
Paul’s paternal grandfather was Harry Eisenhändler (the son of Jacob Eisenhändler and Minnie Roth).
Paul’s paternal grandmother was Rebecca Stierr (the daughter of Wolf Stierr and Annie Borach).
Paul’s maternal grandfather was Erich Jontof-Hutter (the son of Julius Jontof-Hutter and Elisabeth Flatau). Julius was born in Prague, the son of Emanuel Jontof-Hutter and Anna Jontof-Hutter. Elisabeth was the daughter of Isaak Flatau and Henriette Moses.
Paul’s maternal grandmother was named Berthy Kasket (the daughter of parents surnamed Kasket and Behr). Berthy was born in Berlin.
